Import PDF or RTF Documents

I just purchased FH 5 and I imported a GEDCOM file of my Family Tree Maker 2012 database. In FH, I seem to have lost all the PDF and/or RTF documents that I had attached to my source citations in FTM.

If my information was received in an email, I usually attach an RTF copy of that email to document this source. The same goes for documents that I download from websites that are only available in PDF format. When I manually scan documents, I usually use PDF instead of TIF because the images are smaller and scale better. All my .jpg and .png files imported just fine.

Does FH not allow PDF or RTF documents? Does FH allow TIF images?

FH does support virtually all file formats, including PDF and RTF and TIF.

However, it does differentiate between image file formats such as JPG, PNG, GIF, and TIF and textual/audio/video file formats such as PDF, RTF, DOC, TXT, WAV, MPEG, etc.
The former are automatically displayed in Multimedia windows and in Reports, but the latter are only opened via an external program.
To do so, use the red triangular Open in Editor/Player button found in Multimedia windows.

All media files are linked in the same way via a Multimedia Record and should be listed on the Multimedia tab of the Source Record or Individual Record to which they are linked.

There is some advice in the Knowledge Base on how to Import from Family Tree Maker.

Thanks for your response. I am not having any luck. the don't even show up for me to select view in Editor, etc. Some of my census images from Ancestry.com, which are JPGs also did not seem to make it. I downloaded the plug-in to find and repair broken links but it says there is no problem so I think these images and documents did not import. I think I will check out the Knowledge base article you recommend. Tha tmay help.
