Hi All,
If anyone has copies of these can you tell me if they are any better than using IGI.

As I understand it the coverage is very uneven. That said I would be interested in any experiences people have of using them (and how much they spent on them)

I find them a bit hit-or-miss; I have not found anything in them that is not already in the IGI and frequently the IGI has more.
I have the Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Cornwall volumes on CD from the now-defunct Archive CD Books. They weren't cheap, although I did get them in their half-price closing-down sale.
Unfortunately the Gloucestershire volumes did not include Bristol and the Wiltshire volumes did not include Chippenham - two of the areas I was most interested in.
My advice would be a 'try before you buy' if you can as I'm sure the coverage for the different counties varies enormously. The Society of Geneologists has a full set in their Library if that is accessible for you. My final point would be that in general there is no extra information in Phillimore than there is in the IGI (no margin notes, etc.)

Thanks for the reply, think I'll save my money for something else.
