Queen Mothers Household

I have recently had contact with along lost relative, who told me her mother had been inservice with the Queen Mothers household.  I would love to know more about this lady, does anyone know where I might find any information.  Thanks[smile][smile]

As this would be with in the last 100 years, you may find it difficult to gain more information with out being next of kin, my suggestion would be to find out more from your relation.

I found from the 1891 census that one of my rellies was a housemaid at Windsor Castle.
I wrote to the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle enclosing an sae and asking for any info on my rellie. I received a reply enclosing a copy of a form which had been filled in by my rellie giving her dob, date of entry to Royal household, previous position and her signature.
Maybe you could try writing to the most likely Royal residence.

Just got Your Family History / Your Family Tree issue 67 in the mail -- the cover feature is on employment records.
The Royal Household holds a record of everyone who worked for it since 1660.  Put your inquiry in writing, with as much detail as possible, to:
The Royal Archives
Windsor Castle
Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 1NJ.

For earlier records, you must contact TNA.
