I apologise in advance to those of you that know all about this, but I didn't until a day or so ago, so I'm posting this for any 'newbies' who might find it useful.
On Ancestry, as well as the databases (BMD, census, Pallot etc) that are shown on the home page, there are hundreds (if not more) others. From the home page, at the end of the 'MORE COLLECTION' section is a link called 'See all databases'. There are a lot!.
Click on this link and you'll see a search table, and below an alphabetic browse list. If, in the search table you enter (for example) United Kingdom in the 'What location are you interested in?' box, then click search, you'll find all sorts of interesting databases to search on.
The two immediate ones I've started using are:
England & Wales Christening Records, 1530-1906
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1351
and
England & Wales Marriages, 1538-1940
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1352
These are by no means complete, I've found entries in IGI that aren't in these, but the converse is true also. Well worth a look if you have now run off the start of the BMD and census databases in your research. There are quite a few parish register transcriptions there, as well as some Irish ones.
There are 836 UK databases in total so well worth a look.
I did notice that Ancestry's new general search engine doesn't seem to find things in these databases, so do try accessing them directly.
Hope someone finds this useful.
David.

These new Ancestry baptisms and marriages are those that are on the LDS British Vital Records CDs.

I think that some of the other databases can only be accessed if you are prepared to pay more than the basic membership.
