Can anyone please decipher the following which is an entry under the 'Relation to Head' column in the 1871 Census. I have tried 'Resitus' and 'Presitus' in the dictionary and have drawn a blank. [wink]

Can you let us know the census reference? It would help to be able to see the page to compare the letters with others on the page in the same hand-writing.

How about 'Prentice'?  I have seen this before and assumed that it was short for apprentice.

Good thinking - I'd not thought of that because I've only seen it as Appr before but it seems logical as the person is only 19 [tongue]

Sorry Nick for not giving you the extra info but it seems as if it has been solved.
Thanks anyway and thank you for Gedcom Census.[grin]

It might just say 'Relative'. There is some ink up there where the top of the L should be. I have seen this before and assumed it meant they couldn't think of the name for the relationship but they were sure they were related somehow!
