Missing death record

I have searched long and hard to find a death record for Andrew Dickm born 3rd Dec 1874, in Manchester. He is in the 1891 Manchester census but not the 1901. The household schedule 1911 shows 12 born of parents marriage, 7 still living, 5 who have died. I can account for all 12 children and 4 who have died, leaving me to believe Andrew is one of the 5 died and his parents had been notified. I have searched GRO indexes (army, marine, Boer War); Maritime History Archive; war memorials, Royal Navy casualties. Have I exhausted every avenue of enquiry? Any help much appreciated.

Might there be:
newspaper articles or obituaries
memorial inscriptions (not specifically military memorials)
general cemetery / burial indexes
parish records
probate records
family Bible records (in another branch of the family)
I assume from your post that you don't know where he might have served. However, a Google search might yield a website dedicated to a specific unit which keeps a roll of honor.
If you haven't done so already, search the records you've already listed with the names reversed (in case of a faulty index) -- if he has a middle name, swap
the forename and middle name -- etc.
Try finding other evidence of when he was still living, in addition to the census (city directories, etc.) to narrow down the window for the death record.
Hope this helps.

Hi vpfz,
Have you checked if he emigrated?
Have you checked for a military or naval service record? (at Kew - not online yet for the period before 1914, afaik)

Another thought - did he change his name? If it was registered you might find it online at the London Gazette.

Many thanks for all your replies.
The Macclesfield man was not him.
Census up to and including 1911 does not have him.
I have tried name reversal without any luck.
Local newspapers Boer War period unhelpful.
Will continue to search, but options becoming fewer and fewer!
