Why would a child be Baptized twice on the same day at different churches. Both are C of E. St Mary, Summerstown and St Andrew, Earlsfield. Summerstown is very close to Earlsfield.
The Childs name is the same, along with the Parents names, home address and Fathers occupation.

Baptized twice ???
Is one a chapelry of the other? It may have taken place in the chapel but recorded in the Parish register at the church too.

Baptized twice ???
or perhaps they had a shared vicar, and he could not remember which church he used. Are any other baptisms duplicated?
Are you looking at the originals or a transcript?

Baptized twice ???
Page 128 of the register for the Parish of St Mary, Summerstown, has entries numbered 1017 to 1019 all on 30 June 1890 and page 129 has entries 1029 to 1032 on 13 July and 17 August 1890. In between are entries 1020 to 1028 dated between 25 March and 29 June 1890. The fact that nine dates are out-of-sequence is obviously significant and indeed there is an explanatory note in the margin on page 129: 'from 1020 to 1028 were taken in St Andrew's Church, Earlsfield'. (I've underlined 'Church' because the register for St Andrew, Earlsfield, has 'Parish' crossed out and 'Church' written in.)
The page at http://www.achurchnearyou.com/earlsfiel ... /page/296/ confirms that the church of St Andrew was built in 1889-90 and consecrated in February 1890. It also includes: 'The new Parish of Earlsfield was created from the outlying portions of the parishes of St. Anne Wandsworth, and St Mary Summerstown.' I think this may explain the nine duplicated entries.
