I have finally found the time to make a start on the 1911 Census on FindMyPast.

I have found Thomas Purcell (a great uncle with an interesting story) in

RG number:
RG14 Piece:
22483 Reference:
RG14PN22483 RD455 SD6 ED42 SN43

Registration District:
West Derby Sub District: Kirkdale Enumeration District: 42 Parish: Kirkdale

PURCELL, Thomas Crew Married M 24 1887 Trimmer Lpool Lancs

I have gone back a few pages, but I can't seem to find a ship name does anyone know if the information is recorded somewhere, or if it's just a big list of all the ships crew in port.

Just to say, not to worry, I went forward a few pages and found the 'end page', I think I's some sort of liner ?SS.Tunisiaw? so the crew would be pretty big so I probably did not page back far enough for the previous ship.

Hi Jane,
Looking at the images on Ancestry, the name appears to be the Tunisian. The schedule page suggests the ship was a steamship of 6803 tons (net) and registered in Glasgow, doing trade runs to/from Canada (it was on route from Canada on the night of the census), with a mixture of passengers & cargo.

Doing a search on the name turns up this web page with more details of the ship and an image.
