Post by Carol » 20 Jun 2011 11:45

From 30 June 2011 - 8 July 2011 Ancestry.co.uk is giving free access to members and non-members to 2 of its collections:

The National Probate Calendar 1861-1941 and the Andrews Newspaper Index Cards 1790-1976.

Hope this of use to some of you.  The information was gleaned from the July issue of 'Your Family Tree Magazine'

Free Access to National Probate Calendar

Thanks very much for posting this.

I desperately need to switch files between computers, so I haven't been able to get at my Family Historian database. I made a hasty list of people to look for from memory and by looking up families on the 1911 Census website and on FreeCEN, and I did find entries for four people (out of 50) in the National Probate Calendar.
