Hoping someone could point me in the right direction as to where to look next for someone who appeared in the Old Bailey online records. My ancestor was supposed to have been transported for seven years in 1817 but I cannot find him in the convict ships.

I'm now wondering if he was transported at all as
there is a marriage entry for him a couple of years later, and as he has an unusual name and surname I am pretty sure it is the same man. Ideas anyone?

Thanks

No idea where I heard it, but I recall that some Transportees actually never got further than the Hulks moored in rivers. A quick google search gives http://www.portcities.org.uk/london/ser ... hames.html and page 3 mentions this.
