I currently have Ancestry Access, could some one on Find my past do a location search for
Census: 1891
County: Lancashire Street name: Taliesin Street
Residential Place: Liverpool
And tell me the Folio details so I can find the street on Ancestry, I have a big chunk of my Taubman's missing and I want to 'Street Walk', just in case they are hiding where their step-mother died in 1898.
If you could also let me know
Juvenal Street (1889) and Howley Street (1893), both Liverpool that would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jane,
The reference for
Taliesin Street
RG12 piece 2899 folio 109 page 18
Juvenal Street
RG12 piece 2898 folio 13 page 20
Howley Street
I could not find this in Liverpool.
The only result is in Lambeth which is a little way away from Liverpool!
regards
Dave

Jane,
There is a Howley Street in Kirkdale listed in the:
Kelly's Directory of Liverpool & Birkenhead, 1894. [Part 1: Liverpool]
See attached extract - are any of the names of interest?

Sorry Jane,
I didn't really look at the dates so obviously streets built in 1893 would not be on the 1891.
The reference for 1901 is
RG13 piece 3469 folio 48 page 18
regards

Thank you very much both, I'll take a wander down them. DeeJay they were not build dates, but the date the families were at them.
No names in the directory I am afraid Gerry.

Excuse my ignorance but how do you use that info on Ancestry. I've had a look but cannot see where one inputs the Folio details.

Jane:
As an alternative to using findmypast address search facility, street indexes for many RD's can be found on the Your Archives pages of the National Archives web-site. This is the link to the page for Liverpool 1891:
http://yourarchives.nationalarchives.go ... reet_Index
An advantage of using this over findmypast is that it collects together page references where streets have been scattered over several enumerators' walks.

Dagwood - I think that to search on folio number etc in Ancestry you have to use the old search form. Click on 'Search' 'Search All Records' and then click on 'Go to old search' near the top right of the screen. Then select the census search and you should see the option you need. Remember to click on 'Go to new search' when you have finished if you want to revert to the new settings

Dagwood:
As PatrickT says, you can get there from the old ancestry screen. Alternatively, from the new screen go to the census year of interest, make sure you have drilled down to individual country (eg England) rather than simply UK collection, show advanced search screen and you will see piece and folio options on the search form.

May I also recommend Steve Morse's One-Step Web Pages -- IMHO his search forms are far superior to the ones provided by Ancestry.
The page for searching UK Census records on Ancestry is here:
http://stevemorse.org/census/uk.html
Note the drop-down box which says 1891 can be pulled down to select other census years or 'all' (this was created before the release of the 1911 census).
I especially like Dr. Morse's forms because he will alert you to fields which are not indexed in various census years / places.
Note at the bottom of the form there is a place you can enter details to walk through a microfilm roll.
Hope this helps.
