I recently spent £6.95 on a two day pass on The British Newspaper Archives Website. This game me 500 credits and I was pushed to use them all in the time allowed.

I found a great range of information of my family that I would never have known - Births, Marriages & Deaths of family members, including wedding guest and presents list. I found stories about several of my ancestors who were in the church. I even found my grandfather was charged with driving with no road tax!

Images can be downloaded and I managed to 'crop' the parts I needed in Photoshop Elements.

An excellent way to spend a wet weekend!

The newspaper archive is also available on FindMyPast. New pages and titles are being added all the time, so it's useful to be able to go back and search again without extra cost, if you already have a full subscription to FindMyPast.

So far as I understand it, library membership usually gives you access to the Gale collections, which are similar to, but not quite the same as, the other sites.

Yes, Library membership is for Gale collection, I also use FindMyPast but the OCR quality is very poor and gives disappointing results.
