I noticed from some of the Forum Posts that members were entering the Census National Archives Reference into the system so I started doing the same thinking that it must be important, but I am beginning to wonder if this is so.
Of what use is the reference when it cannot be searched for, eg 1911 = Nat Archives Ref:-RG14PN25637 RG78PN1470 RD481 SD4 ED12 SN234, or the 1891 = Nat Archives Ref:- RG12 - Piece 3423 - Folio 34 - Page 11.

I would like to know what the experts think, although the purists will record everything, useful or not.

I am not sure what you mean by 'it cannot be searched for'.

FindMyPast offers a Census reference search and I am sure other genealogy sites do likewise.

Well! I didn't know that, I have just found the little blue link, I have been using FMP for many years and had never seen it before.
Thanks for the education.
