Chasing GRO for a non received cert

Post by SunnyLady » 12 Nov 2008 17:47

Well that was interesting - I sent an order for seven certs and received five plus a refund for another - waited...  then using the email on the covernote for the certs I received, sent an email - but oh no last April they changed the system - I looked at the faqs on the site- to which they had pointed me in case there was a more obvoius way of contacting them... no I had the right email addy but you must put GC at the beginning and end of the subject... and now I have had a response to that one - no not a simple one but one that does tell me that I will have a response [from a human being I hope] in five days, which is all I wanted to know, and then reams telling me that it has been scanned etc etc etc etc....  okay I am wingeing - and I do feel better....

Chasing GRO for a non received cert

Whenever I can, I get the cert from the local record office. Last 2 certs requested from Manchester arrived within 48 hours of my telephone call! How's that for service?[smile]

This is the first time there has been a failure to deliver in one way or another as I've normally found the GRO good (other than when WDYTYA is in full flight!) - usually certs come within four days - but on this occasion nothing and the hassle of chasing it not user friendly which was my point (LOL)- still not heard from a human being but tomorrow the fifth working day so still hoping!!!

I've tried this with Lambeth Records Office, it took six weeks.
