Techniques for researching before church records

I'm researching the DUNN part of my family in the village of Edgefield in Norfolk. I've got back to the 1660's but I think I've run out of resources. I seem to have got back to before any written church records exist.

Is this the end? They're illiterate agricultural workers, so no family records exist.

These resources might be a bit far back, but they're worth exploring: What sources exist for 15th century England. Manorial documents can be particularly good for rural ancestors, if you can handle the Latin.

Thanks, Helen.
That gives me some hope.
