Julius Roberts

Post by moose1953us » 26 Jun 2020 17:33

I have an ancestor named Julius Roberts 1797-1860 married to Eugenia, maiden name unknown, 1797 -1885. They had a son named Alfred Roberts born in 1823. They emigrated to New York City from Switzerland sometime between 1840 and 1850 since they turned up on the 1850 census. This is my brick wall. Anyone have access to any swiss records that can help or steer me in the right direction? I thought it odd to find the Roberts surname coming from Switzerland, but it's confirmed by the 1850 census and my dna test... Any help will be greatly appreciated.

On FamilySearch I have found the entry below for Julius H Roberts, wife Eugenie Brandt and 6 children from Switzerland arriving in the USA in 1841, but does NOT include a son named Alfred born in 1823.

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/perso ... s/G7CJ-6FT

Click on View Tree upper right to see the family group including some of the children's spouses and descendants.
Click on the children in the tree to see their details with some birth dates & places from sources such as Passport applications.

Click on Sources 6 that include an 1841 Passenger List and the 1850 USA Census.

Switch Detail View on to see more at a glance.

Thank you so much Mike, it clears up some questions and fills in some blanks.
