Latin Translation

Post by rfj1001 »

The file attach is the screenshot of the original image of the baptism of David Francis Corkhill on 16 Aug 1908 (English Roman Catholic Baptisms Transcription Record set on fmp).

There is a handwritten latin annotation on the left. Can SKS help with the translataion.

Many thanks

On 31 August he married Rose Ann Moonan at the Church of St Francis de Sales. Witnesses present: Denis J Callan, Elizabeth Moonan.

This kind of note is common in RC baptism registers. In this case, the priest forgot to put the year of the marriage, but it's listed at FreeBMD in Sep qtr 1938.

One side of my family were Roman Catholics and, based on my experience, you will probably find a few baptisms with notes written at the side. They can provide a wealth of additional information, or at least pointers as to where to look next for certain events like marriages.
