Trying to figure out name of parish in Ireland

Hi all,
I finally have a clue for the origins of one of my immigrant ancestors. (to the USA in 1843) The clue comes from a transcription of an ad placed in "The Boston Pilot" by his sister. In the ad, she says that he is from "parish of Mino, county Clare." But, there doesn't seem to be a parish of Mino. Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks,
Shoshana

Could it have been Moynoe Parish, County Clare, and just mistranscribed at some point? See:

Thank you for your suggestions. Moynoe makes sense. My ancestor was born circa 1809, so now I need to figure out what kind of records are available (a quick scan didn't reveal very much). At least I have a direction now.

I fear there may not be much, at least not online, as many of the records have been destroyed, but try research:useful_research_web_sites|> Useful Research Web Sites especially under Ireland.

The National Library of Ireland has published the catholic parish registers it holds at
http://registers.nli.ie/. They can be searched and viewed for free, and digital images can be downloaded for free also.
