Re Registration of Birth

Post by jsphillips » 07 Mar 2015 19:39

Where would I get a copy of the statutory declaration of a re registered birth showing 5 years later the fathers admittance or acceptance of the child. The birth certificate re registered in 1928 says "as per declaration dated etc etc". Apparently the original certificate has now been blocked and I can only get hold of the re registered
All I need is where I can get a copy of the fathers Declaration that he was the father or accepted father after the birth. The GRO do not have this data.??

The re-registration of the Birth is the statutory declaration (or the only documentary evidence likely to available of it), so you would need to apply for a copy of that Birth Certificate to see the record of what was declared at that later Registration. As you say, you can't obtain a copy of the original registration document because it is no longer a valid (legal) record of the event, just as you can't obtain copies of original Birth Certificates for legally adopted children.
