Looking for Newman family in Ohio

Post by ChetN » 06 Aug 2014 23:23

I am searching for the ancestors of my Grandfather William Wallace Newman. According to census reports and his death certificate he was born January 31, 1858, in Ohio (city unknown) and that he died December 19, 1919, in Monmouth, Polk Co., Oregon. Supposedly both his parents (names unknown) were born in Ohio. William moved to Josephine, Oregon at some time where he married his first wife Angeline Teters on August 19, 1885. In 1905 he married his second wife Ruby Sanders in Oregon (city unknown). Overall he fathered nine children, which included William Wallace Newman Jr., Chester Newman, Oren Leroy Newman, Raymond Floyd Newman, and Clara Newman.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chet, I have moved this posting to the Research Forum where it fits better, as it is not to do the General Usage of FH.

It may help if you set your FH version:
Click User Control Panel at the very top of this page, and on its Profile tab enter the Family Historian Version, then click Submit.

You seem to have researched quite a number of ancestors already.
So, what particular assistance are you asking for?

You should be able to find him and his parents and siblings on all the US Census returns from 1860 to 1910.
Then you should trace his parents back on earlier Census returns.

If you are using FH V5 then there is the Lookup Missing Census Facts Plugin that should help.

Then you should be able to find BMD Certificates online.

Thank you for pointing out my many errors and misdirected postings. How would I delete the message?

I am not sure which message you mean, nor why you want to delete it?

But note the 'trash can' icon above each posting lets you delete it.
