FTA has had some minor enhancements specifically for FH.
FTA does offer some interesting analysis reports, but IMO offers relatively little that FH does not also offer.

Presumably you mean "offers relatively little that a heavily customised FH with lots of extra plugins does not also offer". FH out of the box doesn't offer anything like the range of reports that FTAnalyzer does.

FH can of course be customised and that's the really great thing about it that puts it head and shoulders above the competition. However for an average user it can be daunting to work out what plugins they should install to get the functionality desired. And for the less technically minded the query tool in FH whilst extremely useful for those of us steeped in analysis logic can be sadly underused for most users.

FTAnalyzer aims to help in that regard as it will work with any family history program. So even new users to FH can use FTAnalyzer without having to resort to learning about plugins. Most reports should be click a button and get a result.

One of the new features users may not have seen yet, is a set of guides on how to get started in FTAnalyzer that should assist users struggling to get started.

Just got around to doing a simple test with FTA. I created a new FH project, with just one individual, added a birth fact in in there entered the Place as Place 1, Place 2, Place 3 and then the Address as Addr 1, Addr 2, Addr 3

Saved the GED file, opened it with FTA and ran the OS Geocoder. Reprted the following:
As I would expect except Addr 1 and Addr 2 not in "descending" sequence like all the rest.

Then cranked the places and addresses up to 5:
No wonder FTA is struggling with my Places and Adresses!

It looks like having more than 3 Place fields and 2 Address fields, with any duplication between them, will confoose it somewhat.

FTAnalyzer uses five levels of location anything more than 5 levels it puts in the last level.

I'm not sure what the GEDCOM of the place & address formats you tried were.

Can you explain what the GEDCOM code looked like and what you'd expect the output to be. At first glance and without properly understanding what you were intending to do it looks like you were including both a PLAC and an ADDR record in one fact and were expecting something different from what it showed.

I can probably amend the code to address your issue but I'd need more info on what you were expecting to see. Bear in mind that all the FTAnalyzer has to go on is the location as typed. The vast majority of family historians of whatever Family History software don't seem to bother much with precise locations. I've seen hundreds of GEDCOM files from different users and very very few (less than 5) have standardised and complete locations.

Many have things like "High Street" as the location with NO other information. Some have information in PLAC tags some in ADDR tags, I've not come across anyone with both. Hence that may be why there is some lurking bug with having both.

If you can assist with information I can probably address the issue. It would have been useful if you thought this was actually a problem if you had raised it as an issue on the programs website rather than on this forum. I'm not entirely sure what you hoped to achieve by posting here.

I'm happy to fix a problem if you have found one and want it fixed as I am very community minded and provide a free program for anyone using any family history program to use. I'd hope your intent was also to be community minded and you wanted to improve the program rather than just criticise it for an issue that no one else had noticed/reported.
