Sprucing Up The Wishlist

I often don't remember that the links change from P1 to P2 and click 'First' thinking it is 'Next'. Maybe that's what was happening?

I have several points:

(1) My Wish List Delete Comments option is still not working.

(2) Why are WL 215 and 338 and in Wish List but NOT in Spreadsheet ~ should they be CLOSED?

(3) I believe WL 47 and 394 can be CLOSED ~ See my Comments in Wish List and Spreadsheet.

Sprucing Up The Wishlist

Post by NickWalker » 04 Aug 2012 21:19

Thanks for all of the work you are doing on this, it is much appreciated.

As I've said before, Wishlist item 20 (Word-processing facilities for notes (italics, bold etc)) has long been my number one wish for FH. I'd prefer the title to include source text and also mention tables - I get so many people asking how to format their census data and this can't be done satisfactorily without tabular formatting. So I'd prefer the title to be: Word-processing facilities for note and source text (italics, bold, tables, etc).

Also several other wishlist items have been merged in which I don't really think are related to having word-processing facilities for note or source text. Wishlist items #251, #357, #455 and #470 all seem to be about adding functions to queries or sentences. I don't think these wishes would be fulfilled by adding wp facilities.

Like Peter I do not remember the Delete function working.

WL#304 (closed) has a number of my comments where I had to make a new comment as I could not make a correction.

WL#251, #357 and #455 reopened. Adrian has noted #470 is a dup of #251

Sprucing Up The Wishlist

There is a problem with the wish list navigation buttons.

They all work correctly if you just navigate through the List, looking at item titles.
However if you then view any item, then go back to the wish list, you are stuck on that page and have to exit and come back for the buttons to work again

This is happening with Chrome and W7 64bit.

The navigation problem can be avoided in either of two ways:
  • open the individual wishlist item in a new tab (or new window I suppose); the previous tab still has the working wishlist
  • navigate back from the individual item by using browser's back button or backspace key
The problem arises only after clicking the View Wishlist link on the item page.  The list page then has an error in that all five wishlist navigation links point to the current page; only the Main Site link works properly.

[In case it's relevant I'm using Windows 7 and Chrome 21.]

Yes, navigation links now working OK, but the Delete: links on my comments (e.g. Delete: ) still do nothing except reload the page.

Sprucing Up The Wishlist

Post by Cambiz » 16 Aug 2012 20:00

The wishlist has now been pruned as per the spreadsheet.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... n_US#gid=0

I would be grateful if people could revisit the above link and amend Column G where items remain that should have been closed.

After this I think that the next step could be to respec and update some of the descriptions of the wishes, possibly in the format Mike used for one he submitted -

Scenario
Problem
Possible Solution

This, I feel is more appropriate with the older ones which may have become stale or have been partially fulfilled with various versions, AS and plugins. Also some of the more advanced / technical ones which may not be pulling in the votes.

I've adapted the spreadsheet removing and adding some columns.

You'll see I've put how I feel WL#8 should read on the sheet as an example - collating in some comments from WL comments to allow people to get all the information in one hit. I'd be grateful if you feel others require similar treatment, you could put your proposed form of words in the same column.

With Jane's ok, and without any html, bar the occasional I could amend the list and hopefully some will appear in V6

Chris,

Thanks for all your hard work. This should help Calico Pie in determining which wish list items to include in future releases.
