This software is $14.95 and only does the same job as the free converter already listed here:

Also the frequently mentioned IrfanView with the GhostScript download will do the same conversion (any many, many others) for free!

Mike,

I already had Irfanview installed with it's plugins.  I downloaded and installed GhostScript.  Do you know how I would convert from .pdf to .jpg?  When I try to open a .pdf file in Irfanview, it gives me this error:

I do have it installed and it seems to run fine if I start it up on its own.  Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Bill

Have you tried a pdf from another source?

The Decode error suggests that GhostScript has a problem with that particular PDF.

Does that PDF open OK in Adobe Acrobat Reader?

As Bonzo says, do other PDF open OK or not?

Try downloading that problem PDF again.

I have opened lots of PDF with no problems.

Thanks Mike and Bonzo for your replies.

Very strange. I have tried .pdf files from 5 or 6 different sources. All open fine in Adobe and in PDF-XChange Viewer which are the programs I normally use for viewing .pdf files. I've tried opening 8 or 9 different files with Irfanview and none of them work. I uninstalled Ghostscript and reinstalled it but that didn't help any. I'm using Irfanview 4.36 and Ghostscript 9.06. I keep getting that same error.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, after a bit of Google searching, and some experimenting I may have found the answer.

On a 64-bit PC, it appears that IrfanView (a 32-bit program in C:Program Files (x86)) does NOT detect 64-bit Ghostscript in C:Program Files.

Originally I had downloaded and installed the Ghostscript 9.05 for Windows (32 bit) gs905w32.exe and IrfanView worked OK.

I uninstalled that, and downloaded & installed Ghostscript 9.06 for Windows (64 bit) gs906w64.exe and IrfanView produces your error message.

I uninstalled that, and downloaded & installed Ghostscript 9.06 for Windows (32 bit) gs906w32.exe  and IrfanView works OK.

See updated FHUG Downloads ~ Utility ~ IrfanView.

Mike,

Bingo! That was exactly the problem. Thanks so much for finding the solution. I should have spent more time looking for the solution before posting.

Thanks!

Bill
