Hello,

I feel sure the answer to my question already exists in the forum somewhere but I just can't find it. I've even tried the manual ! I use FH v3.

I've been offerred research assistance and to make best use of it I would like to send a portion of my family chart to the research helper. Ideally I would like to send it so that he can see the chart as I do, with complete functionality enabling him to read the background notes etc. Is this possible? If not, how would you recommend exporting the data to ensure it will be readable by the receiver?

You can use the Split Tree Helper on a copy of your file to delete everything you do not want to send on to your helper.

Your helper could use the Demo version of FH to review the data although some functions are disabled.

You can see more on this at

Obviously if they already have a Family Tree program they should be able to import the gedcom file in.

Thank you Jane. I will find out what software he has and pass on your tip about downloading the demo version. The latter seems the easiest solution - well for me anyway!

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Jane, that worked just fine. I also passed on the info about the demo version - well you never know.
