Profession on Birth Certificate

Post by canalmaniac » 13 Jul 2006 13:38

My birth certificate (1945) shows my father's army number and a profession (Hotel Chef).

Would the profession be what he was doing in the army or what he was doing before he was called up ?

At a guess it was the profession before the army. Do you have a marriage certificate for your parents to cross check. As you have the army number you should be able to get your Fathers Army records in you want them, which should show occupation on enlistment.
