A couple of weeks ago, I found on the National Archives Site, that Hampshire record office had some papers for Winchester Collage.
So I emailed them to see what the papers contained as my Grandfather rented a farm from them in the early 20th Century.
With in a couple of days I had a mail back from them to say the records had gone back to the collage and they would pass on my request, to the collages part time archivist.
Well today a email arrived detailing all my grandfathers dealings with the collage, which parcels of land and buildings and the rent he paid for his holdings and an offer to send me a copy of his lease.
The cost? Nothing!
The one thing I have found over the years is the huge amount of helpful people involved in this hobby of ours.
