I have two user Profiles. On my laptop, running WIN 98se it's Steve Bye, on my PC, running XP Home Edition it's Stevebye. Why can't I insert the space in XP ? [confused]

I have never used spaces in user ids, you could use a . or - if you wanted.
I suspect its to do with the fact XP was built on NT and its security model which allows command line maintenance. Where as Win98 was a patch of Win95
Personally I always avoid spaces where ever possible.
