I have a lot of information on various places connected to people in my tree (i.e. churches, villages etc.etc..).I have been trying to devise a way to keep all the information together within FH.I have tried using a Note as a place but could not link pictures to it.I have also tried making the Place an 'Individual' and keeping all the photos and stuff there.I am now working on the idea of having a separate Gedcom to use for places instead of people. This seems OK as I can link photos, write notes etc.I can also create a @Family' 1.e. a town and the 'children could be houses, church within the town,or the 'Individual could be the County,'Children the town/village etc.I know this may seem a bit long winded but I was wondering how any one else uses FH in this way!
If there could be a tab in FH for places this would be great.[grin]

I have created a source type 'Location'
e.g. Loc: Lowick,Northumberland. I put information from Gazetteers into the Text part and use the Note at the bottom to enter my own information. I can attach photos and maps to the source.

We just have some ordinary Windows folders under My Documents...Places... I suppose we could organise them by county when we get too many. In each you can have notes, links to websites, documents, pictures, whatever. It would be nice to link them formally to FH but not really necessary.

I'm with Aragorn / ireneb - I am just about to start fiddling with Notes to do exactly this, now I know it is impossible with Notes I will at least not waste any time.

Maybe a wish list feature?

Look at 'Attaching multimedia to a place' on wishlist. If it is what you want vote for it.
