I am trialling FH; could someone kindly tell me how I can attach documents in Word 2007 format(.docx) to an individual record.  When I navigate to where the relevant documents are stored, only the old ones in Word 2003 are available for selection.   Thanks Patricia

I'm assuming you have selected 'Document' from the Insert menu. In the open dialogue you will see a 'File of type' drop-down list which has Document Files selected. From this list choose 'All Files' and then you should be able to see the .docx files too and link them.

You could make a wish list request for the next version of FH to support the latest version of Office file types such as .docx. See the menu on the left of this web page.

Thanks, Jon - but do you believe from experience that there isn't a way to attach Word 2007 docs?  I thought it might be that I didn't know how because I am new to FH, just trialling it at the moment.  Patricia

I posted a reply to Jon before I saw the answer from Nick Walker - thanks, I've got it working now. I see I can add a jpeg that way too eg scans of certificates. Is there a reason to choose Insert a picture, rather than to do it under Insert a document? Patricia

Some types of data, including jpegs can be viewed, zoomed, included in reports etc. within Family Historian. This includes jpegs and other popular image formats. Word documents, PDFs, etc. can't and when linked, only the icon for the program is seen which when double-clicked will load the appropriate software to view them (e.g. Word or Acrobat Reader).
