Deleting duplicate entries

Post by davvidd » 02 May 2008 20:40

In the individual field I have put the same child under two different parents.
How do I delete the unwanted entry.
Hope it's not a silly question.
Would appreciate any help.

Many thanks

Highlight record you want to delete in Individual Records, click on Edit > Delete.

If you have one record for the child and they appear under two different parents, then you need to select either of the wrong parents in the record view window. Open their information structure and then open up their 'spouse family' structure by clicking in the box. Then right click on the child in question and select 'clear link'.

If you have duplicate records for the child, then just find the wrong child in the record view window and just delete the record.

If you have a child linked to two sets of parents, this can easily be undone from the menu.  Select the child, go to the Edit menu, hover over Unlink From and another box will appear giving you the choice of Parents... or Spouse...  Click on Parents and it will give you the choice of which set of parents to unlink.  Select the ones you want to unlink and click ok.
