... is added in the next version.

Just a passing comment, since I have started using FH, ever single week I want more and more to have locations as their own items / records like individuals, families etc. Oh it would make life so, so much easier.

I agree. If you are sorting out census data, city directories, tax records, anything with a street address -- it would be a huge help to be able to keep track of street addresses and even buildings on a separate tab.

I'm pressing the note tab into service at the moment, but it is not ideal.

To make sure I've voted, which wish list item is this? There are a few that have the word location in them.

Item 249 'Ability to save information against places' requests support for Gedcom 5.5EL which has records for places at the same level as individuals, families, notes, objects.

Also, item 8 'Attaching multimedia to a Place' which is similar but specific to multimedia objects linked to places.

Item 59 'Address management like that for Places' is also a good one that would help sort out addresses and places.

Item 69 'Creation of location maps' would come naturally with support for Gedcom 5.5EL.

Jon,

Thanks for this, I had already voted for these appropriately. PS- finding wish list items by reference number is somewhat non0trivial isn't it?!

Sorry, I included the numbers so that you can be sure you've got the right item. A word from the title is the main method of searching.

Thing that I would find good about it is with notes about the location and photographs. So lets say you have the family farm, stories about things that happened there are notes and photos of the buildings. If there was a location, then if that was linked to the people that lived there, then the stories and photos are automatically linked as well.

I can dream, can't I? [grin]

I've obtained and taken photos of churches then and now and would love to be able to attach them automatically to a person if their relevant B/M/D corresponded!
