How many people can I put on a FH diagram

Post by RosalindE » 19 Sep 2008 18:24

I will have around 5,000+ people for the final FH 'All Relatives' type of the diagram that I use.

I have only been using this software since the spring and don't know roughly how many people I could put on one file/software thingy.

Any advice is welcome thanks

I know of people with 10's of thousands of people in a file.

How many you can get on a diagram really depends on how big you can print.

Jane thanks for that information only I have not even got around to thinking about printing off a diagram yet.

I was really think more of the HardDrive space that it would take up
although I'm aware that I can buy more
gigtabytes, if need be.

With modern hard drives you are unlikely to have a problem on that front. GED files are pretty small as long as you only link images rather than embedding them.

Jane that's useful information only when I have used up a lot of the HardDrive's space then I check it quickly.

Only some days the newish PC goes a bit slower than others.

If it's running Vista, I would recommend at least 2Gb of Ram, not just for FH, but other programs as well. Vista plays much better in 2Gb as a minimum.

Also check your Virus checker is not scheduled to do a full check every day when you are normally using the machine.

I have a Windows XP desktop computer,
it is the one that suits me online 'needs' for now.

Yes my Virus Checker is scheduled to run at the times in the early hours of the day.

thanks Jane
