It looks like this only applies to the UK version, not the US version.

It appears that only the following collections are free in the US.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well it would seem you are correct. The note on Ancestry.co.uk does say that it applies to Ancestry.co.uk! There is no equavlent note on Ancestry.com.
Is there anything stopping you going on Ancestry.co.uk? I can get on to Ancestry.com with no problem. It does ask if I meant .com and not .co.uk, but once I said I meant .com, I was allowed on. Don’t know if the reverse applies, one can but try :D

It's also only records that are on the main Ancestry site. They keep other records such as Fold3 behind a separate paywall. OK, business is business, but their main aim is to monetarise our hobby...

Mike,

I have no problems getting to the Ancestry.co.uk site. I just wanted to let those in the US know that they wouldn't find free access to all records on Ancestry.com if they didn't have a subscription. I have a full subscription so already have full access.
