Faststone Capture

Post by Johnyeates » 25 Aug 2015 19:37

Hi, My free copy of Faststone Capture has stopped working on web pages, it works fine on pages within my Windows 7 computer.
I have re-installed it several times with no luck.
I don't want to buy a copy and find I still have the problem, there dosn't seem to be a free download any more, no matter what the web site says.
Any ideas please.
John

If you only need screen-shot captures then try fhugdownloads:contents:utility_windows_snipping_tool|> Utility ~ Windows Snipping Tool.

And if you want something more complex, both IrfanView and XnView both have built in Screen Capture.

Thanks for the replies, I had forgotten the 'Snipping Tool' and I think it will do. I did like certain other functions in 'Faststone Capture' but I will see how I manage.

Update on Snipping Tool and Faststone Capture:-
Both work on computer stored pages but neither work on a Web Page, the screen just goes blank with both so I can't see any image to capture.
I have even done a 'Restore' to an earlier date when they were working, without any joy.
Could it be something in the registry causing the problem? I forgot to say that I am using Google Chrome as the browser.

The Snipping Tool works fine on my Win 7 SP1 PC in Chrome 44.0.2403.157 m and Firefox 40.0.2 and IE 11.

What happens in your other browsers?
Does it matter whether Chrome is Maximised (full screen) or Restored Down (part screen)?
Does the problem affect all web pages, or just a particular one you are trying to capture?

Try reinstalling Google Chrome with latest version.

In case it helps there is a discussion of the blank page problem here

https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmit ... s_happened

with a long post which suggests the solution may be settings in your security program.

Hi Mike,
The blank page happens on any web page whether large or small.
It all went wrong after I was advised (by a Microsoft Salesman/Engineer) to run 'Scannow' to try to fix a minor problem that he thought was a doggy Register file, but I could have lived with the problem hence trying a restore.
I will go and read the article now.

I have just sent a request to Kaspersky for help as it may be a security configuration issue.
