My first post....
I have been a member of the Forum for about 4 years, and I have been using Family Historian since 2006, but this is the first time I have posted. I have just ordered the Upgrade to version 6, and I am looking forward to using it. I tend to work on my tree about 2 or 3 times a year for a week or so, and then leave it to pursue other hobbies. I like to do it that way, although sometimes it's easy to forget the train of thought that I had when approaching a particular line of enquiry, so I find that making notes is important. I just wondered how other people approach their research - slow and steady ? or the occasional sprint ?

Re: My first post....
Hi,
I've been researching both my family and my wife's family since 2008. I find the method that suits me is to spend one or two hours at a time four or five times a week. I restrict myself to these times even if I do not find any new facts although it is unusual if something doesn't crop up. This way of working has proved ideal for me as recently I've been asked to research two other families!
Until recently I used Family Tree Maker, but after looking at Legacy and Rootsmagic I decided that Family Historian is the best software to us, particularly as Family Tree Maker has fallen behind in its development and looks very dated now.
Moving everything across to FH will also fit in well to my way of working.
Hope this is of interest.
