I think they have only just started on both, but I am sure they would be delighted to get a few likes on Facebook and some followers on Twitter and circles on G+ if anyone uses them, I see they are also on Google plus as well.

I think the Facebook Page is a brilliant idea. I hope they add to it often :-)

Jane --

Because of the announcement over FTM's EOL, I've been recommending Family Historian to FTM users when I can, especially on Facebook. This has led to an inquiry about whether there is a FH6 user's group on Facebook.

I know from reading the RootsWeb mailing list that there is a lot of encouragement for users to come here where we have a better environment to help people, and I agree with this philosophy. However, there may be users whose primary place to hang out is Facebook, who are too shy to come over.

Does Calico Pie have any plans to start a group for FH users? In the meantime, I'll continue to steer people here.

On FH's Facebook page:
Following the recent announcement by Ancestry that Family Tree Maker will be discontinued, Calico Pie has today offered a 20% discount off the price of download licences for Family Historian 6, to users of Family Tree Maker. The offer is open until the end of January 2016. See http://bit.ly/ftmtofh for more information,

If Jane doesn't want the hassle of moderating a Facebook Group I am happy to help out and do it. I am certain there would be a couple of other volunteers.

My thoughts are it should just be a point of presence for the group and any technical questions should be referred here and to the knowledge base. We should not be looking to duplicate what is here.

Colin if you are happy to set up and moderate the Facebook group, then please go ahead and set one up. To be honest I just don't have enough hours in the day to learn Facebook, especially as I don't use it at all at the moment.

Once you have the links etc, let me know and I can add it on to the links here so people coming to FHUG can find it.

Jane et al

The Facebook group is now set up. It is a 'Closed' group so only members can see the content but everyone can find the group and request membership. I can change this to 'Open' if that is required but that can cause the group to be open to Spam.

The address for the group is https://www.facebook.com/groups/FHusers/

If anyone has any problems joining send me a PM here.

Likewise if anyone want so assist with moderation please let me know.

Colin --

I've just asked to join, and sent a message on Facebook saying I would be pleased to help admin. (My profile picture here is the same one I use on Google+, but it is not the same as my Facebook profile picture.)
