On trying to run GedCom Census v5.1 get an error message 'Found no people in the selected file'. Cannot find a way to select a file since the program does not open. Any suggestions?

This came up on the FHU list the other day. I think the only way to sort it is to edit the registry to remove the default file.

I think it occurs when the first file you try and open is not a valid gedcom file. Hopefully Nick will be along soon with an easier solution.

Hi

Yes sorry this has been reported a few times now. I have got a fix for it which will require me to release a new version which I will probably do soon. For now the registry fix is the only one. If anyone else has this problem and (understandably) doesn't want to mess with the registry contact me and I'll sort it out for you.

Hi all, sorry to retread old problems but, can you give me blow by blow instructions on fixing the registry? After reading registry help the prospect frightens me.

I will have a look where it is when I get home if Nick does not beat me to it.

Sorry, still haven't found time to release the update, I am determined to add some extra features rather than just release a bug fix version but I just can't seem to find the time at the moment.

I'll be in touch via email.

Instructions for this have been added as a Wiki Entry.
