RECORDING CENSUS RECORDS

I have just started entering my census records. So far so good
My question is
In the 1841 Scottish Census the head of the household is missing, he appears in the 1851 and 1861.
His 6 year old son who is my direct ancestor appears in every census from 1841 - 1901, by that time he is married and head of the household with his 10 children
Do I just record all census records as is and will they automatically link up in FH
Sorry to be such a numbskull but I am new to FH and not very computer literate..
Thanks wini

Always record the information from Census exactly as it appears on the form. Don't forget to search for the 'head' separately, perhaps he was staying with friends, in hospital or away with the armed forces.

A missing family member is a puzzle to be solved.

Hi Wini

To add to Jane's reply, when you enter the census details only select the people that are there. There might also be people in the household, e.g. servants or visitors, who don't appear in your tree so you can use the Source Text box to record them. Do make sure you read through the help pages as they give examples of how to enter the data.
