I am sure Nick will be along soon, it sounds like the install did not quite go on, although HHCTLR.ocx should be a standard part of Windows I think.

Try un-installing and re-installing again
Make sure you are signed on to the machine as an Administrator.

If that does not work, you might want to detail what version of windows you are using.

The HHCTRL.ocx is not installed with Gedcom Census as it is a standard part of Windows as Jane suggests. I'm not sure why it would be missing in your case and I've not had anyone ever report this before so I think this must be a glitch on your computer.

You haven't said what version of Windows you have but one thing you could try is the following.

Go to the start menu, select Run and type this in (copy and paste it if you want to be certain of getting it right) then press OK:

regsvr32 /u %windir%system32hhctrl.ocx

then do the same but this time miss out the /u:

regsvr32 %windir%system32hhctrl.ocx

Then try Gedcom Census again. If you still have problems then let me know what messages you get after running the two commands above.

Hope this helps

Nick

Thanks for the reply. I did as you said but the message i got for both bits of the command was load library 'Cwindowssystem32hhctrl.ocx' failed. Specified module could not be found.
I am running windows xp

I did search on the Microsoft site and they suggested running a download 935448 which I did but to no avail.
If you have any other suggestions they would be appreciated
Thanks

You could try copying the file from another computer with XP on it, copying it in to the C:windowssystem32 and then registering it using the second of the commands I suggested.
