importing new entries into Family Historian

Don't know what i have done [ or not done!] but I have been using Gedcom census and Family Historian happily for a long time. However recently i had a new computer and now it seems that when I enter information into Gedcom it does not get automatically passed over to the Family Historian files.
I am using vista - does that have an effect?
Would be gratfeul for any advice as i am lost without this link.
Thanks

I am using Vista fine and the new version of Gedcom Census so that isn't the problem. Which version of Gedcom Census are you using?

I would check that both FH and GEDCOM Census are really working on the same file. I imagine that your file won't be stored in the exact same folder as on your old computer.

As Robin suggests, the only reason this can be happening is if you're not referring to the same file in the two programs. To fix this follow these instructions:

1) Run Family Historian and open your Family History file (the one you want to use with Gedcom Census).
2) Check in ‘File Statistics’ under the File menu and make a note of what it says as the Filename.
3) Close Family Historian
4) Run Gedcom Census.
5) From the File menu choose ‘Open Another GEDCOM family history file’
6) Back in step 2 you made a note of the Filename path of your family history file. In the ‘Open’ dialogue click on 'Computer' from the drop-down list and then follow the path through until you can see the file. E.g. The file path for my file mightbe ‘C:UsersNickDocumentsFamily HistoryWalker.ged. So in the ‘Open’ dialogue I would click on the C drive, then 'Users' Folder, then ‘Nick' Folder, etc. until finally I would see ‘Walker’ (or Walker.ged depending on your PC settings) and I would open this.
7) You will then be asked if you want to open the file by default each time. If you always use the same family history file then I would recommend clicking on Yes as it saves you selecting the file every time Gedcom Census starts.
