I'm still wandering around in confusion!
So, ancestral sources is software I can download that will streamline entries int Family Historian (right?).
* Where do I download it from? Do I need to download multiple pieces of software?
Once I'm running AS, it seems like I need to give it a text template, and these I can copy from various webpages on this site (right?).
Thanks

You can download Ancestral Sources from the top right of the home page. If you don't know if you have a 64bit OS, just use the 32bit version.
All the 'Standard' UK Census template are already in the program, if you need extras you can find them here:
http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... ralsources
You will find a great deal of help and advice here:

Hi, You can download it from the 'Downloads' link on the left side of the screen, and its only one peice of software.
It doesn't stream line entry into FH as such, but it makes it easier for you to capture details on Census and Baptisms (and soon marriages) in a single form, and then build the various facts for the people involved.
You don't have to give it text templates (or copy them). It comes with templates for various source texts which you can choose to use or ignore and create your own text. You can then also create your own with the in built editor if you want to do something different.

I have tried it and it is useful as it generates the citations etc. and links the census to all relavant people.
There are some videos on the page Jane linked to.

Also, remember there is a
Forum thread dedicate to
Ancestral Sources where any particular requests for advice should be posted.
I strongly recommend you study the
Anestral Sources Tutorials and their video guides for
Census and
Baptism and in about a month
Marriages too.
