AS 2.0 Mother's Name

Post by gerrynuk » 26 May 2011 21:39

Nick,

Is it possible to change the baptism template to show the mother's name thus:

[Given Name(s)] [Married surname] (nee [Birth Surname])

I find that most registers that I use give just the married name for the mother, although Norfolk registers often show something like:

'John Smith and his wife Joan (late Joan Jones spinster)'

Many thanks for all your hard work on getting this version out.

Best wishes,

Gerry

I think this would do it:

{KEYMOTHER.GN} {KEYFATHER.SN} (nee {KEYMOTHER.SN})

Works fine!

Am beginning to understand the way you have done the Templates and have produced a number of variants of my own. If they seem to be useful I will post them. The simplest way would seem to be including the text of the template in a posting as this can easily be cut and pasted into a New template.

Yes that's why I didn't feel the need to have an import/export facility for autotext templates

They could also be pasted into a .doc file and added as a Download.

Mike,

In the context of AS Templates wouldn't a .txt (Text file) be a better option for a download - there would be less chance that it would contain any 'nasties' (ie unwanted characters etc) and it would be readable on any computer.

I agree, but .txt files are not currently allowed in Downloads, although Jane could probably change that.

If they are something which are cut and pasted why not create a Knowledge base article with them in, in the AS section of the Knowledge base. That way extra ones could be added as time goes by.

Two Knowledge Base > FHUG Downloads pages have been added for Ancestral Sources Templates; one for Census Auto-Text and one for Baptism Auto-Text.
