Residence Shared

Post by shaunm1963 » 04 Sep 2011 12:22

Hi, please redirect me to established thread if it exists. When I add a family or a married couple using AS to FH4 the parents/couple are each given separate Residence facts. Is it possible to have the parents/couple entered as Shared Residence? I am continually re-entering this detail manually after each AS save. How do other users feel about separate residencies? It just seems more natural to have them as a shared entry. Is this OK with GEDCOM standards etc....?

Thanks, Shaun Moorcroft

Residence Shared

As far as I know there isn't a standard facility in GEDCOM to create 'shared residence' unless you create custom attributes. There are family facts such as census but using these isn't recommended as you will end up with a mix of family and individual events which is messy. Also a family consists of children too and creating a family event doesn't make it clear which (if any) of the children it applies to.
