Option for Minister to be a File person

Post by johnmorrisoniom » 18 Nov 2011 17:10

Nick.
In AS 2 Baptisms, associated persons can be just a name, or someone in your file. Could this be extended to the Minister as well?
I have quite a few instances where the minister is actually a close family member.

Which field/event would you expect the minister to be recorded in if they were in your file? Its effectively an associated person so you could create an associated individual type for minister and use that? I think its a very rare occurrence to have the minister actually in your file so it isn't something I want to spend a lot of time adding if an existing mechanism would work instead.

On the Further Info tab there is a Minister field and this will be included in the Auto Text if the {MINISTER} tag is included.
Both the Rose's Act Eng & Wales 1812- and Generic Baptism Auto-text options include the {MINISTER} tag.

For more advice on creating Associated Individual Types see the Knowledge Base tutorials on Ancestral Sources.

I hadn't realised that the associated persons list could be customised.
I was mainly thinking in advance for when weddings is added.
I want to experiment with adding a fact to show that the brother of one party was the Minister.

Associated Persons and Facts (Events/Attributes) are quite different concepts in FH/GEDCOM terms.

AS allows different Associated Individual Types to be customised and details saved in your GEDCOM data.
AS Associated Individual Types can use GEDCOM Associated Persons or Linked/Local Notes or Custom Events to record the details.
However, in the latter case, it does not actually create the Custom Event Fact Definition.
As does not at present support Custom Attributes.
The tutorial I mentioned above provides more advice.

For examples of Custom Facts for such relationships as Marriage Witness, Will Witness, Will Executor, etc, see Knowledge Base for FHUG Downloads of Fact Set ~ Kinsfolk Facts & Sources
http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... ts_sources
These could easily be adapted for your Marriage Minister relationship.
