I'm trying to get the Census source auto generated text to look correct on reports. That is to say in columns.
I followed the instructions to adjust using tabs and all looks correct and neat on the screen. However when printed as an individual summary or narrative report, at the start of the line it automaticaly inserts the words 'Text from Source:' before the word 'Name'. This puts everything out of line. I tried putting a carriage return at the start but it makes no difference.
What should I do to make the columns line up?
Regards

There is a limitation in Family Historian which means that only text can be entered into source and note text fields. This means that it isn't currently possible to use text formatting such as bold, italics, etc. or tables, etc. There is a wish-list item (one of the top ones) that you may wish to vote for
here. This has been my number one wish now for the 6+ years that I've used Family Historian and as time passes and it continues to not be available I get more and more frustrated about it!
Using the tab key in AS or FH can make the text line up but if viewed in a different font or font-size (e.g. in a report) it won't look correct. I seem to remember Tatewise did some work on this and has suggested fonts, etc. that work, I'm sure he'll be along later with some suggestions.
Ultimately though it isn't very satisfactory.

I assume you have looked at the
Knowledge Base and the
Ancestral Sources Tutorials.
Under
Ancestral Sources Tutorial ~ Working With Templates there is a section on
Auto Text Templates.
Under
Ancestral Sources Tutorial ~ Entering Census Facts there is a section on
Edit Auto Text and Note.
This refers to how to
Tabulate Multiline Text in Records and Reports at:
http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... nd_reports
There it describes exactly what adjustments are needed to get well formatted
Reports and it mentions the problem you describe.
The solution is to ensure the
Autotext Template and thus the
Text From Source start with a blank line.
I have used that technique and the initial blank line method definitely works.
