I've run across a situation where I need to have two different census templates for the same year for the Iowa state census.  There are two versions, a long and a short version.

I can't figure out how to name these.  There are two fields, Country/Region and Year.  

It appears the Country/Region designation ends up in the name of the file if I select the option 'Same as filename' when specifying the name of the image file.  It also causes the list of Census countries to have two different entries for Iowa if I put the name here.

The year field appears to require a valid year, so I can't put something different here like '1905 (short)'
and '1905 long'.

How do others handle this if they've run across this situation?

I suppose you could just create one of them with a year 1906 instead but with the 1905 census date: it should be OK I think - give it a go (take backups first!).

Hmmm... I really like to have the correct year since that is what appears in the drop down.

I guess I'll try using a Country/Region of 'Iowa (short)' and live with that.  The source name will end up having 'Iowa (short)' as part of it, but I think I can live with that.

Bill, is the Short Census simply a subset of the Long Census?
i.e. there is a common subset of columns, but the Long Census has extra Columns.

If so, then perhaps one template would cover both options.
As an aid each Column Title could include (long) for the Long Census columns, and this will appear in the tooltip when hovering on the column heading.
None of the Short Title would include that, because it appears in the Auto-text Census Grid.

Unfortunately, the Long Census column headings would have to be deleted from the Auto-text.

Other ways of differentiating a Short from Long template is to use lower-case and upper-case letters or other subtle differences in name.
e.g.
Iowa
IOWA
Iowa US
Iowa USA

Yes, the short form is a subset of the long form.

Thanks for the ideas, but I guess I'll just use a differentiated Country/Region.  I decided it is too much of a pain in the neck to have to delete the extra columns every time from the text.

I'll have to think about the name some more.  I like your idea of using a variation on Iowa, but I'm not sure which one to use.
