I am using AS V3 for baps and sticking with keeping parents names static but my sources did not. Advice on how to do this in AS appreciated.
Examples are:
Alfred Brooks Dowsett bap as Alfred, no father, mother Rebecca Hardy (maiden name, child born 1 month after marriage), abode is correct village, no fathers occup. Alfred later uses in census and his marriage cert Brooks Dowsett.
Thomas Brooks Dowsett bap as Thomas Hardy (mothers maiden name), parents William Brooks & Rebecca Dowsett, abode correct village, fathers occupation as shoemaker that agrees with his marriage entry in the parish registers. This occup also agrees with his records as he joined the police force known as Hardy's men on 14 July 1840.
I am thinking enter data keeping surname constant then editing the auto text in AS to show exact detail in parish registers. Also going to link an image of parish register.
Is there a better way?

That's the way I do it.
Or for the child add an alternate name in FH, then make it the primary name, then do the AS entries. Once back in FH revert the names. Diagrams will then show the main name and underneath will (can) show aka [secondary name] if the correct text scheme is used

I agree with John.
You can only have one Primary Name for an Individual in FH.
That is the Name that both FH and AS will use to identify the person.
It is your assessment of the source documents that decides that a person named on the document is a particular person in your FH data.
The AS help & tutorials advise that the Auto Text (that goes into the Text From Source field) must be reviewed and edited to be an accurate transcript of your source document.
This can be accompanied, as you are doing, with a source document image.
As John says, you can add many Alternate Names to an Individual Record, and optionally include them as 'aka' in Property Box Captions and Diagram Boxes, etc.
