Configuring Ancestral Sources

Post by antheaj » 01 May 2012 15:34

I am about to start using Ancestral Sources for all the census data I have gathered over the years and decided to look at the tutorials. But I'm a little confused as to whether I have to configure the initial settings for each and every project I have or is it just a one off that has to be done as it is only the sample project that is mentioned?

Configuring Ancestral Sources

The settings you apply will be there for all other projects you open.

The default settings suit many users but it is worth spending a while with sample projects or copies of your project checking that the way the data is recorded in your file suits the way you want to do things. You may choose to tweak settings at that stage. Be aware that many of the settings apply to the particular source type (currently Census, Baptism or Marriage) so make sure that the settings are OK for all of these.

Once you're happy you can open up your main file (set it as default if you're going to use it every time).

It is a good idea to Backup your settings (Tools menu->Backup AS Options)

Hope that helps

Thanks Nick, I will use an old project I no longer use to play with.
