Opening an FH project
Hi
When I first start AS the method to open a project is to use FILE - OPEN FH Project... (from the help file).
However, the left most tool bar icon is also Open FH project but this only becomes active after a project is opened via FILE - Open FH project, it then behaves the same as the menu item. Until then it is greyed out and cannot be used.
Next to the menu option File Open FH project.. is an icon that is the same as the first toolbar icon.
My question is should the toolbar ICON be active when opening AS for the first time before a project is opened for the first time? My opinion is that it should be as it does open the correct dialogue box to open a FH project.

Thanks Chris, not something I'd ever spotted or had reported before, but is corrected in the next version. I suspect most people have AS defaulting to always open their main project file.
Best wishes

I also noticed this (as I have not at the moment set a default FH project when I open AS).
I have also noticed that the toolbar is above the File/Edit/View/Tools/Help whereas in all the tutorials etc it appears below... is this a deliberate change or linked to the greyed out toolbar?

Do you mean the toolbar is always above the menus for you in Ancestral Sources, even after you've opened a project?
I've never heard of that happening and can't imagine how it could happen! Please will you send me a screenshot of that via email to Nick AT ancestralsources DOT com (replace the AT and DOT with the usual symbols).
Thanks
Nick

Nick,
I think the toolbar can be moved above the menu bar by clicking on the row of vertical dots on the left hand and dragging it above the menu bar. This could have been done accidentally maybe? It can always be dragged back down below the menu bar.

Ha! I'd never noticed that before. Wow I'm even adding in features without realising it!

In fact the toolbar can be dragged to any of the four edges of the window, but when AS is restarted it always returns to below the menubar.
When attached to either side of the window, clicking on its options has an 'odd' resizing effect.

Mike,
You are right. It does return to being below the menu bar. I hadn't tried closing and reopening AS.

Prior to the last up-date the Open Project icon at the left DID open the Project. I noticed this myself after downloading the update.
