I have just acquired an additional monitor for my multi-monitor setup.  The maximum monitor resolution is 1366x768 which is what I have it set at.

I am trying to open AS on that monitor and am having a problem.  I am unable to resize the window height so that the entire window will fit in the 768 pixel height of the monitor.

Does anyone else have this problem?  I know I can maximize the window to get it to work, but wondered if there is some way to make it work without maximizing the window.

I am losing about the last 9 lines of the window or so.

I have no problem resizing the AS main window on my 1600 x 900 one & only monitor in Windows 7 SP1.
In fact, if I drag either the top edge or bottom edge near the edge of the monitor screen, then it automatically expands to full height.

What is the resolution of your other (main) monitor?
Perhaps AS is constrained to the size of the main monitor, despite its window being on a second monitor.

I actually have three monitors now.  The main monitors is 1920 x 1080, the second monitor is 1280 x 1024, the third monitor is 1366 x 768.  On all of the monitors I can not reduce the height of the window below a certain point.  I can make it taller, but not shorter than that.  I recall another problem people talked about where the width could not be reduced beyond a certain point.  As I recall there was a limit in AS as to how narrow the window could be (800 pixels or something like that).  Maybe there is also a limit on the height such that it can not be reduced beyond a certain point?  Maybe 800 pixels?  That would explain why it won't all show on a monitor that only has 768 vertical pixels.

My monitor is 1600 x 900 and I can alter the height of the main AS window to anything between 725 and 900, and the width to anything between 800 and 1600.

The minimum size of the main window is 800 wide by 723 so you shouldn't have any problems fitting into the resolution set.

What DPI do you have set? if you search for DPI in the start menu you should find the right settings page to check. I suspect you may have problems if you're not using 100% but I haven't had a chance to try this.

Sorry Bill, I got the wrong end of the stick. Thought you could not make it big enough, not small enough.

If Bill's monitor is 768 high and the Taksbar occupies say 60 pixels then only 708 remain for the AS Window.
Try using right-click on Taskbar and select Properties > Auto-hide the taskbar then the whole screen height is available for the AS Window.
Alternatively move the Taskbar location on screen to the Left or Right.

BTW Nick my AS Window won't get any smaller than 931 wide (not 800) by 723 high.

On Windows 7 the taskbar would only be on the main monitor? Or is Bill using Windows 8?

Mike: 800 is the minimum and I've just tried this on my two computers (running v2.3.2) and they definitely resize to 800 width.

I believe Bill is using Windows 7, so that exposes my lack of knowledge re-Taskbar.

I am using the AutoHotkey Window Spy and it says minimum AS Window width is 931 pixels on Windows 7 monitor 1600 x 900 & 100% (default), but on Windows Vista monitor 1024 X 768 the minimum is 800 (and does expand to full height).

If I expand the AS Window to fill screen, Window Spy correctly says it is 1600 x 900.
If I Maximise the AS Window, Window Spy correctly says it is located at -8 left & -8 top, and is 1616 x 916, which correctly extends 8 pixels all round monitor.
So cannot explain why it won't shrink to 800 wide.

I took a screen snapshot and pasted it into Windows Paint to show me the dimensions of the screenshot and it was 800 pixels wide (which is what the program code itself has set!). If you genuinely can't shrink to 800 width then I have no idea why not!

Thanks for your help. I am using Windows 7. As Nick said, there is no task bar on this monitor.

I have the DPI set to 100%.

I made the window as small as I could and then cut and pasted it into Paint. Paint says the window is 1152 x 881 where 1152 is the height and 881 is the width. This is the smallest that I can make the window on any of my monitors.

I looked through all of Windows 7 settings and the settings for my display adaptor (AMD Radeon HD 6670) and don't see anything that looks like it would alter or limit display sizes.

Ah I wonder if font size is the issue? I'm basing the 800 height on the standard Tahoma size 8 font. The form automatically scales when the font size grows and the minimum size scales with it.

I think that explains it. I had the font set at Tahoma 10. I changed it to Tahoma 8 and now the entire window shows on the monitor screen ok. Although the font is awfully small for my old eyes. [smile]

I cut and pasted the AS window into Paint and now the dimensions are 1152 x 749. I am stating the dimensions as shown in the status bar. I must be confused as to what this is actually telling me since it still says the height is 1152, but the AS window shows completely on my screen which is only 768 pixels vertically.

How do I actually tell what the size of the window is?

Don't know what I did before, but I tried cutting and pasting the window into Paint again and this time Paint says it is 800 x 749. Going into the resize option I see that this really means 800 horizontally and 749 vertically. I had this backwards before. So with the font set at Tahoma 8, I can fit it onto the screen no problem. With Tahoma 10 it is 931 x 913. The 913 wouldn't fit due to my 768 max pixels.

The same explanation applies to me, as I have changed the Tools > Customise > Font from Regular to Bold also for my failing eyesight.

If I reset it to Regular then 800 x 712 is the minimum size, but the font is too small.

If I choose 9 pt instead of 8 pt size together with Bold, then the minimum size is 931 x 764, which Bill may find an acceptable compromise that still fits the monitor.

If I switch to Tahoma 9, my window is 931 x 776, so it won't quit fit on my screen, but I can see everything, except for part of the status bar at the bottom. I think I'll give that a try.

I was wrong yesterday, at Tahoma 8 my vertical size is 728.

Any ideas why at Tahoma 8 my vertical size is 728 and yours is 712 or why at Tahoma 9 mine is 776 and yours is 764? Seems kind of odd, but I can't think of a reason.

I think I know what is happening. Not only does the size of the font change the overall window size, but the type of font (Tahoma, Arial, etc) also changes the overall window size.

Tahoma 9 just about fits and I can see everything I need to see, so that is what I'll use.
